My mother has gone

I thought about keeping this to the strict family intimacy, but the truth is that I can not write on the blog as if nothing had happened in the eyes of the community of La Regalina. My mother has gone.

La Regalina was her idea, implemented between her and my father in the difficult late 70's. She spent the last 30 years of her life in La Regalina, she did everything, with the talent, hard work and dedication that characterized.

Internet began to be used regularly when she was 70. She did not hesitate for a moment to learn and use new technologies intensively, was truly admirable, her age, to see her never separated from her laptop.

I'll keep in my fondest memories of thousands of times, by phone, describing how Cadavedo was, how far was the beach or if La Casina de Piedra had utensils.

In 2007, a year before Alzheimer's disease was diagnosed, on its own initiative, seeing that she had some oversight, she dismiss to address the reservations. She faced the disease with dignity that characterized all her life. In recent years she was very happy, did not lose the memories and enjoyed tons of love that my father gave her.

On February 21, 2012, at sunrise, which they say is the best time to go, left us. She joins us now from another dimension or, as military says, she is in the best mission, in the best job.

Her legacy will remain forever in La Regalina and in our hearts, their love for flowers, for a job well done, its exquisite hospitality ("We have to give to those who visit us the best we have", "hospitality is to help come but also help to go "), her love to Cadavedo ... Cadavedo always. Never forget you, Mummy.

PS. I leave a picture of my mother, Inés Avello, in its fullness, was done by photographer Armand in Havana in 1950.

  1. Mis condolencias Sergio.
Un abrazo, y una sonrisa por saber que tu madre se ha ido, pero deja un legado, una familia y un futuro. RIP.
